Jon W. Bauman (Grand Rapids, Michigan USA 1939)

Jon BaumanJon Ward Bauman studied at the University of Colorado and the University of Illinois. In 1965 Bauman received a Fulbright Grant to study in Cologne, Germany. Dr. Bauman taught in the Chicago Public School System and at Frostburg State University, Maryland.
Nearly seventy compositions have been performed and broadcast in the United States and in Europe. The genre includes orchestra, choir, band, chamber music, piano, opera, mixed-media, musical shows, transcriptions and arrangements.
“Symphony No. 2”, “Symphony No. 3”, “Horizons”, and “Divertimento” for string orchestra have been recorded by the Moravian Symphony Orchestra. “Adagio” for orchestra was recorded by the Slovak Radio Orchestra. “Overture to McNeill’s Rangers” was recorded by the Potomac Highlands Symphony Orchestra. “Moments” for solo clarinet was recorded by the Italian clarinetist, Guido Arbonelli. “Sonus” for timpani and piano or chamber orchestra is published.
He was the co-founder of the summer concert series “Music At Penn Alps”. He was Music Director and Conductor of the Penn Alps Chamber Orchestra, the Symphony Under the Stars Orchestra, the Western Maryland Symphony, and the Potomac Highlands Symphony Orchestra.
